HOW TO MAKE BREAD POHA

Poha is part of the staple breakfast diet of the Maharasthrians. It's easy to whip up in the morning and is healthy and delicious, because of which it the go-to breakfast snack of most Indian households.

The preparation of bread poha involves tempering of vegetables, which include tomatoes, bell peppers and onions. The flavour of the dish is further enhanced by the addition of the favourite Indian spice- garam masala. This recipe involves the use of bread cubes.

Ingredients

6 slices of white bread
1.5 tablespoons oil
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
4 curry leaves
1/2 cup chopped onions
1.5 teaspoon finely chopped green chillies
1/4 cup chopped capsicum
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
3/4 cup chopped tomatoes
a pinch of garam masala
salt to taste
1 teaspoon lemon juice

For The Garnish
1 tablespoon chopped coriander


Method

1. Warm the oil in a pan.

2. Add the mustard seeds and until they begin to crackle. Move on to add the curry leaves and saute for a few seconds.

3. Proceed to add the onions, green chillies, capsicum and sauté on a medium flame for a duration of about 2 minutes.

4. Next, add the tomatoes and sprinkle the turmeric powder on the mix and sauté on a medium flame for another 2 minutes.

5. Lastly, add the bread cubes, salt and garam masala. Stir the mixture occasionally for 2 minutes.

6. Add a little lemon juice and coriander and serve.
